Version 1.1.0 — Effective November 4, 2026

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information GyroGolf handles, and why. It covers the GyroGolf app for phones and smart watches, listed on the App Store as "GyroGolf: Swing & Putt" (the "App"), and this website, gyrogolf.com (the "Site"). GyroGolf is published by H Wang, an individual based in Ontario, Canada ("GyroGolf", "we", "us"), who is responsible for (the "controller" of) the personal information described here.

The short version

  • Your swings and putts stay on your devices and in your device backups. We never receive them.
  • There's no GyroGolf account to create, and the App asks for no permissions or personal details.
  • We don't add analytics, advertising or tracking, to the App or to the Site.
  • Apple handles every purchase. We never see your payment details.
  • We receive personal information only if you email us or use the Site's contact form.

What the App does with your data

Your recordings

When you tap Record, your smart watch reads its motion sensors. It measures the orientation of your wrist and its acceleration. When you tap Save Swing, that recording (a "capture") is sent from your watch to your phone. Your phone analyses it there. From the capture it works out your tempo, your wrist turn, your hand speed and the path of your hands.

Your captures, and anything you add to them (notes, tags, groups, favorites), are stored on your phone. Your watch also keeps its own copy of each capture it has sent. Your settings, such as your golfer setup and capture clip length, are stored on your devices too.

The App doesn't send any of this to us or to anyone else. It contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or other third-party code, and we operate no servers for the App. The only data it moves is your captures, between your own watch and phone.

Your phone may include the App's data in its own backups, your cloud storage or your computer, depending on your device settings. Apple's terms and your own phone settings govern those backups; we have no access to them.

Apple Health and the workout session

To keep the motion sensors running while you record, the watch app runs a workout session through Apple's HealthKit. That's all it uses HealthKit for. The App never reads or writes your Health data, it never saves a workout to the Health app, and so it never asks for Health permission. Nothing from HealthKit or the motion sensors is used for advertising or marketing, sold or shared.

Purchases

GyroGolf Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription under Apple's Privacy Policy. On your phone, the App reads Apple's record of your subscription to unlock GyroGolf Pro: your plan, its trial, renewal or end date. That record doesn't leave your device. We don't receive your name, payment card or billing address from Apple.

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may give us crash reports and aggregated usage statistics for the App. Apple collects these under its own policy, and they don't identify you to us.

When you contact us

If you email support@gyrogolf.com, we receive:

  • your email address;
  • your message;
  • anything you choose to include.

If you use the contact form on the gyrogolf.com/support page, which the App's Send Feedback button opens, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you pick, and anything else you choose to add, such as your message or device details. The Site sends these messages to our inbox. Your email address is set as the reply address, so we can answer you.

We use this only to reply to you and to improve GyroGolf, and never for marketing. Our email is hosted by Google. We keep your messages for as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of the conversation, and we delete them when you ask.

What the Site collects

The Site has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party embeds. Its pages, fonts and 3D replay are all served from our own site. The Site is hosted on Google Cloud. Like any web server, it keeps standard request logs:

  • your IP address;
  • your browser's user agent;
  • the page requested, the page that linked to it, and when.

Google Cloud keeps these logs on our behalf so that we can run and protect the Site. They are deleted automatically after 30 days.

How we use information

We use the information above only to:

  • provide GyroGolf;
  • answer your messages;
  • keep the Site running and secure;
  • improve GyroGolf.

We don't sell or rent personal information, use it for advertising or profiling, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Legal bases (EU and UK)

If you're in the EU or the UK, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Your emails and contact-form messages: our legitimate interest in answering you and improving GyroGolf, or the steps you ask us to take before or under a contract with you.
  • Site request logs: our legitimate interest in running the Site and keeping it secure.

The App's data stays on your devices, so we don't process it at all.

Service providers

The App shares no data with anyone. For the rest of GyroGolf we rely on a few providers, and only to provide it:

  • Apple: the App Store and purchases.
  • Google: website hosting (Google Cloud) and our email.
  • Cloudflare: our domain's DNS, and forwarding of email sent to support@gyrogolf.com.
  • Resend: delivering the Site's contact-form messages to our inbox.

Each of these providers handles information under its own terms and privacy policy. Your device backups are between you and Apple.

Information we hold may be stored on, or processed by, these providers' servers inside or outside Canada, including in the United States. The European Commission recognizes Canada as protecting personal data adequately. Where personal information from the EU or the UK goes to another country, our providers protect it with safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep information, and how to delete it

  • Captures: they live on your devices. Deleting a capture in the phone app removes it from your phone and deleting a capture in the watch app removes it from your watch. Deleting the App from a device removes all its data from that device, apart from any copies in your backups.
  • Emails to us: ask us at support@gyrogolf.com and we'll delete them.
  • Site request logs: deleted automatically after 30 days.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • ask us what personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct it or delete it;
  • ask for a copy in a portable format;
  • object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it;
  • withdraw your consent.

Write to support@gyrogolf.com and we'll answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act give you these rights and others. We honour them wherever they apply.

If you're in Canada, you may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you're in the EU or the UK, you may complain to your local data-protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Wherever you live, you can also contact your local authority.

Because the App sends us nothing, the data it keeps on your devices is under your control: delete it in the App, or delete the App.

Children

GyroGolf is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Your captures are protected by your devices' own security, such as your passcode and Apple's device encryption. We protect the information we hold, our email and the Site's logs, with the security measures of our providers' accounts. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure. If a breach ever affects your personal information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we'll change its version and effective date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll also give notice on the Site or in the App before it takes effect.
